Auggie Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 14, 2026
Auggie ("we," "our," "the app") is a location-based social discovery app that lets you choose what information about yourself to share with people physically nearby. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you control it.
Who this app is for
Auggie is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Profile details you choose to enter — name, date of birth, bio, hobbies, interests, relationship status, hometown, university, vehicles, and similar fields, across Personal, Professional, and (on eligible plans) custom "Other" profiles.
- A profile photo, if you choose to upload one.
- Social media links you choose to add.
- Professional details (job title, company, industry, skills, contact info) if you create a Professional profile.
- "Looking For" tags, if you choose to flag services or products you're currently interested in.
Information collected automatically
- Device identifier — a random or device-generated ID stored on your phone, used to identify your own profiles. This is not a user account and is not tied to your name, email, or phone number.
- Location — your device's GPS location, collected only while a profile is actively broadcasting, used to find and be found by people nearby.
- Push notification token — used only to deliver match alerts to your device.
Information from connected third-party services
- Spotify — if you choose to connect your Spotify account, we access what track you're currently playing, only while you've turned on "Broadcast Currently Playing." You can disconnect at any time.
How your information is used and shared
By default, none of your profile fields are visible to anyone. Each field has its own "Show when broadcasting" toggle that you must turn on yourself. Only the fields you've explicitly enabled are shown, and only to:
- Other users physically nearby, and only during the broadcast hours you set, while your profile's broadcast toggle is on.
We use your profile information and location to:
- Identify shared interests between you and nearby broadcasting users, and notify you both of a match.
- If you've flagged a "Looking For" interest, notify you (and only you) when a nearby business broadcasts a matching service. Businesses are never told who was matched to them or that a match occurred — this is intentionally one-directional.
- Enforce the age-visibility preferences you set, so your profile is only discoverable by people within the age range you choose.
Your exact date of birth is never shared with anyone — only your calculated age, and only if you've turned that field on. Your "Looking For" tags are never shown to any other user under any circumstance; they exist solely to trigger the private notification described above.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Third-party services we use
- Google Firebase — our backend database, server logic, file storage, and hosting provider.
- Google AdMob — displays advertising within the free tier of the app.
- Spotify — only if you choose to connect your account.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data on their end.
Your controls
- You can edit or remove any profile field at any time from within the app.
- You can turn broadcasting off entirely, or for individual fields, at any time.
- You can disconnect Spotify at any time from your Personal Profile screen.
- You can set an age range controlling who is allowed to discover you.
Data retention and deletion
Your profile data is retained for as long as your profile exists in the app. To request deletion of all data associated with your device, contact us using the information below.
Security
We use industry-standard access controls and server-side logic to limit what data is exposed to other users to only the fields you've explicitly chosen to broadcast. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
